He started life. We messed it up. He found a way to fix us from the inside out. All we have to do is confess our situation, believe in Jesus, and receive God's new way of living.

We all have a different story. For some reason your story has brought here. Some parts of your story may be the same as mine, or your story may be one that is different in all its details, but there is one thing that is the same of every story: we all are born in sin. We are all born with a propensity to value ourselves above anyone else, with the capability to do the very best thing or the very worst thing depending on what circumstances we find ourselves in.

The beauty of the "Good News", as the Bible calls it, is that God loves us so much that he chose to provide a way to fix the problem inside of us at a great cost to Himself. 2000 years ago, God sent his only son, Jesus, into humanity to do something we can never do: live a perfect life, so that He could provide a bridge for us to make our way back to Him. He willingly died in my place so that the penalty for a sin-filled life could be wiped away. Not only did He die, but 3 days later, He came back to life and over the course of 40 days was seen by more than 500 eyewitnesses before He returned back to His Father in heaven.

When a person confesses to God that they need this type of help, believes that Jesus did all of this for them and is willing to receive forgiveness God's way, the Holy Spirit is able to bring about a new life inside of that person. That's all it takes. It is in this new life that we can have peace. It is in this new condition that we can have hope. It is because of this new idea that we no longer feel that emptiness inside. It is from the Holy Spirit living inside of us that we find the courage and strength to face all the ugly things that life throws at us.

Prayer isn't hard or mysterious. Just talk. Tell God that you know you need Him and you believe that Jesus came, died, and rose again just for you. Ask him to help you, to live in you, to change you. And He will.

This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son, his one and only Son.
And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in him,
anyone can have a whole and lasting life. God didn't go to all the trouble of sending
his Son merely to point an accusing finger, telling the world how bad it was.
He came to help, to put the world right again.
